Carson Newman University is located in Jefferson City, near Dandridge and Douglas Lake. It is not unusual for us to have guests who are visiting their students at the University. Sporting events, holidays and just family visits are great at the lake near the University.
We get students and their parents who come here from all across the various nearby Universities, both for vacations and for academic studies. We tend to see alumni of Carson-Newman, Walters State, ETSU, University of Tennessee-Knoxville, Johnson Bible College, Maryville College, MTSU and further out.
Students come here during Spring Break, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Summer and any other break they can find because Dandridge and Douglas Lake are perfectly peaceful spots to get away from the pressures of academia. Outside of that, the lake becomes valuable to students who study it for various projects relating to the Smoky Mountain ecosystem. The training they get observing Douglas Lake eventually comes back to becoming the authorities who maintain the lake and the dam.
No matter what reason you come to the lake, choose our cabins for your trip! Our amenities are designed for pleasant ambience whether you’re head-deep in studies or trying to escape from them. See our reservations here.”
